Foodborne Illness Notification System
Foodborne Illness Notification System (FINS) is an online system for residents and visitors to tell the Health District about potential illness related to food they are or food safety concerns they observed.
State Food Safety
Use food safety resources to help foodservice workers remember important food safety principles. We have videos, posters, forms, infographics, cartoons, and stand-up training resources — all for your use!
Cleaning in Place
Cleaning in place can mean that equipment has self-cleaning features, like when a pipe is flushed clean automatically. But more often, cleaning in place means that food workers clean equipment where it stands. When cleaning in place, food workers should follow specific steps to make sure the job is done safely and effectively.
Use Chemicals Safely
If chemicals are not used or stored safely, they create chemical hazards that can be dangerous to your customers and employees.
Time/Temperature Control for Safety
Some foods grow bacteria more easily and quickly than other foods.
Fridge Storage for Food Safety
Although it may seem like a small part of food preparation, refrigeration plays a large role in keeping food safe. The temperature of the refrigerator, the order of the food on shelves, and the amount of time left in the refrigerator can all play a large role in the growth of bacteria or other harmful pathogens on the food.
Service Animals
The Washington Law Against Discrimination (WLAD) includes provisions prohibiting
discrimination against persons with disabilities who use a service animal to assist them with the
disability.
