NEW: Order Certificates and Pick Them Up at the Office (Will Call)
All certificates must be ordered through VitalChek. To order certificates to pick up in the office you MUST use this link. You can pick the certificate up yourself Monday-Thursday from 9am-4pm instead of waiting for it to be mailed.
You will still submit documents online to verify relationship and identity and pay for the certificate online using a debit card or credit card. The certificates are the same cost as using mail delivery.
Certificates will be available to pick up within 2 business days. You will get a notification when the certificate is ready for pick up.
You must show identification when picking up the certificate(s). If you ordered the certificates and someone else will be picking them up, call ACHD at 509-243-3344 to let us know.
Any certificates not picked up within 5 business days will be mailed via USPS.

All certificates must be ordered through VitalChek. Certificates will be mailed to you. You can have the certificates mailed for free through USPS or faster shipping for an additional fee.
Ordering Birth or Death Certificates
1. You will be required to prove your identity in order to order a certificate. This is to protect privacy and ensure only qualified applicants can get the certificates.
2. You will need to show proof of identity and proof of relationship. Carefully review the required documentation before starting your order.

Tips
- Plan on AT LEAST 10 minutes to go through the process. Reviewing required documentation before starting the order will help speed up the process.
- You will need an email address in order to set up a VitalChek account.
- You will need to be able to upload pictures or scans of documents to prove identity and relationship.
- You will need a credit or debit card to purchase the certificate. ACHD does not accept cash for certificates. All payment is done on VitalChek.
- You will need to know the date and city of birth or the date and county of death.
- The Clarkston Downtown Library has people who can assist you with the process. Call them at 509.758.5454 to set up an appointment.
- Next of kin can get one (1) free copy of a death certificate for a Veteran. Must provide proof of service.
- Ordering through the funeral home (when eligible) removes the VitalChek Fee ($11.50).
