FREE car seat checks are available to anyone with a child, a vehicle, and a car seat. Appointments are required. No walk in appointments are available at this time.

Appointments last about 45-60 minutes per car seat. At least 1 person attending the appointment must be physically able to remove and install the car seat. The child must be present at the appointment! Expectant parents can also have their car seat checked.

A limited number of free car seats and booster seats are available for Asotin County residents. To qualify for a free car seat, you must meet all of the following criteria:

• Be a resident of Asotin County and provide proof of residency AND
• Not have a proper car seat for the child AND
• Be the parent or legal guardian of the child AND
• Show proof of income eligibility in one way:
  • Participate in a state benefit program such as WIC, TANF, Apple Health (state medical insurance), SNAP/EBT/food stamps. Must show proof of enrollment in the program. OR
  • Meet income guidelines as outlined in the table below. Must include all sources of income for all household members. Include unborn children in the number of household members so the smallest family size eligible for a car seat is a family of 2 household members. Must show proof of income.

The child must be present at the appointment to qualify for a free car seat. Pregnant women may qualify with proof of due date.
