Environmental Public Health: Subdivisions
ACHD Environmental Public Health reviews short and long plats that are developed with onsite sewage systems (OSS) as a means of wastewater treatment and disposal and/or with individual or group drinking water sources. This is required by RCW 58.17.150 as well as Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 246-272A. This helps to establish that a development has suitable space, soils and site conditions that can enhance the function and long-term operation of an OSS. Our review helps in developing properties that minimize the risk of untreated wastewater contaminating adjacent water sources and endangering Public Health. In addition to plat reviews, EPH also conducts:
- Special property use and boundary line adjustment reviews.
- Preliminary site evaluation and review for suitable soil and existing lot features. This helps to plan and estimate costs for developers prior to deciding to purchase or fully develop individual lots on a given property.
